Ethel Margaret McCorkle, age 74, of Napoleon, Ohio, transitioned to the Lords arms Friday afternoon, November 6, 2009 in Toledo Hospital. Peacefully she was in presence, greeted by those who left before her.
Born February 3, 1935, in Napoleon, Ohio, the daughter of Orville and Venus (Lighthill) Thornton. On September 14, 1951 she married Robert “Mac” L. McCorkle Sr. and he preceded her in death on January 17, 2009.
She was a devoted housewife and mother.
Surviving are two sons, Robert (Sharon) McCorkle Jr. and Michael “MC” McCorkle, both of Napoleon; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 1 brother Frank (Karen) Thornton, Adrian, Michigan; 1 sister Luann (Raymond) Retcher, Napoleon, Ohio and her beloved black lab “Sadie”..
She was preceded in death also by a son, David “DeDe” L. McCorkle and 1 brother David Thornton
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Paul United Methodist Church, Napoleon, Ohio, Rev. Lindy Maurice-Saum, officiating. Interment will be private.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. up to the time of the service. Reception to follow the service in the basement of the church.
