Biography


Esther Lena Stevens, age 87, of Napoleon, Ohio, died Tuesday morning at the Henry County Hospital.
Born April 12, 1922, in Deshler, Ohio, the daughter of Fred E. and Clara (Moore) Engler. On September 22, 1940 she married Donald Riley Stevens and he preceded her in death on May 21, 2006.
She was a retired ARA cafeteria employee for the Campbell Soup CO. of Napoleon. She was a member of the Napoleon First Presbyterian Church, and its Women’s Association and Bible Study Group. She was a auxiliary member of the Napoleon Fire Dept., the Ladies of the Elks Lodge #929 and the Henry Co. Democratic Women. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a 1940 graduate of Napoleon High School.
Surviving is one son James (Tracy) Stevens, Napoleon, Ohio; two daughters Barbara (Walter) Amspoker, Findlay, Ohio, Carol (Eugene) Detmer, Napoleon, Ohio; 8 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death also by 1 brother Arthur Engler, 2 sisters Marie and Lucille Mae Engler.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Gavin A. Pitt Jr., officiating. Interment will be made in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, on Thursday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the church, the Activities Fund of Country View Haven or to the Henry County United Way Cancer Care.
