Biography

Gilbert G. Westrick, age 90, of Napoleon, Ohio, died Thursday morning at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio.
Born July 15, 1919 in New Bavaria, the son of the late William J and Anna ( Faber) Westrick. On April 9, 1942 he married Anna M. Krenek and she preceded him in death on February 1, 1999.
Gilbert was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. He was a WWII Army Air Corp. Veteran where he served in Italy and Africa, he was a member of the American Legion Post 300 and V.F.W. Post 8218 both of Napoleon. While in high school Mr. Westrick worked at Spanglers in Napoleon and retired from Great Lakes Steel Company in 1979.
Gilbert is survived by daughter, Carole Jean “C.J.” Westrick and her husband Thomas Bomar of Tiburon, California; and his loving cat, Cookie.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Eugene Westrick, brother, Eugene Westrick, sister Cyrilla Robinson and Arlene Herge.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Father Dan Borgelt, celebrant. Interment will be made in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans posts of Napoleon.

Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Ohio on Tuesday from 2 - 8 p.m., where a rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to Henry County Senior Center or St. Augustine Catholic Church.
