Wayman W. Steed JR, age 80, of Napoleon, Ohio died Saturday morning (Sept. 26, 2009) at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio.
Born June 5, 1929 in Stockton, CA , the son of the late W.W. and Alma (Anderson) Steed. He was united in marriage to Joan Arbios on December 19, 1953 and she survives.
Wayman was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Napoleon and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society since 1987 where he was the President of the Napoleon chapter. In 2007 he was named to the St. Mary’s High School Hall of Fame in Stockton, CA. He shared his love of basketball by coaching in high schools and elementary schools including St. Augustine in Napoleon. In 1986 Wayman retired from Johns – Manville after 30 years of service to the company serving in California, New Jersey, and Ohio. He also was a Korean War Army Veteran.
Surviving are three sons, David of Twinsburg, OH, Kevin of Napoleon and Glenn (Candy) of St. Clairsville, OH ; daughter, Julie (Jerry) Beamer of Santiago, Chile: 8 grandchildren, Haley, Nick, Michelle, Meredith, Harrison, Jake, Alexander and Luke.
Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in St. Augustine Catholic Church, Father Dan Borgelt, celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, Ohio on Monday from 5 to 8 P.M.. with a Rosary service at 8 PM
The family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to St Vincent DePaul Society.
